Cee Lo Green & Jo Koy Join in Gay-Bashing with Blake Shelton & Tracy Morgan
Sexy Cee Lo Green Feels His Masculinity Threatened
[wiki]Cee Lo Green[/wiki] opened for [wiki]Rihanna[/wiki] at the Target Center in Minneapolis on June 16. Mr. Green, known for his provocative and overtly sexual statements, apparently told the crowd according to reports, “Do you realize I’m just foreplay for Rihanna? Rihanna’s gonna fuck you, I’m just here to get you wet.” Andrea Swensson, the music editor for City Pages, a Minneapolis-based magazine, took offense and wrote a review of Mr. Green’s performance, calling it “gross,” “forgettable” and “inept.”
I respect your criticism, but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I’m guessing you’re gay? And my masculinity offended you? Well fuck U! [/box]
Mr. Green tried to play it off as “all in good fun.”
He’d also deleted his original tweet, saying there was some confusion over the gender of Ms. Swensson, who it turns out is a straight woman.
But after the weekend, the story picked up steam and by Tuesday, June 21, Mr. Green issued an apology: “”I most certainly am not harboring any sort of negative feeling toward the gay community. I don’t have an opinion on people with different religious, sexual or political preferences. I’m one of the most liberal artists that I think you will ever meet, and I pride myself on that.”
Nonetheless, this is the second coach on NBC’s “The Voice” to get in trouble with homophobic tweets. And while it’s too early to tell, much of the coverage of Cee Lo Green’s statements met with widespread distribution on June 21, when he earned almost 6,300 new followers, up significantly from his normal 2,500 or so.
Minor Comedian Jo Koy Calls Audience Member the F-Word
Filipino-American Comedian [wiki]Jo Koy[/wiki] went after an audience member in a [wiki]Tracy Morgan[/wiki] fashion of June 15, getting himself booed off stage, according to the Huffington Post. The Windy City Times contained the entire account of the incidence.
Later his zipper was open to the screams of several female fans in the front row pointing at his jeans. One male voice yelled, “I saw it.”
To which Koy reportedly replied, “What are you looking at, fucking faggot?”[/quote]
He apologized on Twitter the following evening and on the [wiki]Chelsea Handler[/wiki]’s “Chelsea Lately” Roundtable on Tuesday, June 21. But Jo Koy neither had a big following nor seems to have a shocked audience. So far, it’s had no major impact.
